It’s official — Verizon has the iPhone

For the past couple of days, we’ve tracked the rumor that Verizon would soon be able to make the Apple iPhone available to its customers.
That’s no longer a rumor. Indeed, Verizon held a press conference this morning and announced the iPhone will be available through the carrier on Feb. 10 and put up a page allowing interested customers to reserve a phone immediately. AP viewing iPhone to Verizon as a certainty?

Just the other day, First Arkansas News reported on rumors that Verizon will announce at an 11 a.m. press conference on Tuesday that it will have the Apple iPhone available for customers.
The Associated Press today added to those rumors — or, perhaps, got closer to confirming them — by reporting that Verizon is expected to make that announcement. The AP joins such as heavy hitters as the Wall Street Journal in treating the rumored announcement like a certainty, giving credence to the notion that Verizon will finally have the iPhone …

A Verizon iPhone? Good!

The tech rumor mill has it that Verizon will announce on Tuesday, Jan. 11, that it will offer the iPhone. An AT&T exclusive since 2007, frustrated iPhone users have complained about dropped calls, limited coverage, delays in tethering, slow data speeds, poor customer service and the possibility that AT&T allowed warrantless NSA wiretapping. The list of customer complaints means a sigh of relief if Verizon does, in fact, use the NYC press conference to launch the iPhone on its network on Tuesday.
