Big night for Arkansas Republicans

Arkansas entered the day as a state what was represented primarily by Democrats in Washington.
Now, Republicans dominate the state’s congressional delegation.
Here’s how it went down:
* In a hotly contested Senate race, Republican John Boozman defeated Democrat Blanche Lincoln. The final vote hasn’t been tallied yet, but that race was called in Boozman’s favor as soon as the polls closed.
Lincoln, the incumbent senator, angered Arkansas voters with her support of health care reform. The voters responded as expected, leaving Boozman as the first Republican senator from Arkansas since Tim Hutchinson embarrassed …

Arkansas runoff results

Yes, it’s runoff time here in Arkansas.
Well it was, anyway. The May 18 primaries were nasty enough and one might argue that the fighting in the June 8 runoffs was even worse.
Perhaps the big election of the night was the Democratic primary runoff for U.S. Senate.
Incumbent Blanche Lincoln and Lt. Gov. Bill Halter have been flinging mud at each other for months now. Thankfully, that’s all over — Halter has conceded and Lincoln will fight to defend herself against challenger John Boozman, a Republican and 3rd District U.S. Representative.

Don’t fret — the runoffs are almost over

June 8th is the big day — the runoffs in Arkansas will be over and done with and we can focus on watching Republicans and Democrats get down to despising members of the opposing party rather than their own kind.

Instead of one race full of nastiness, we’ve got shenanigans all over the state.
Here are …

Ethics Committee investigates Benton County Sheriff

All of this squabbling leading up to the May 18 primaries is — at the very least — entertaining.
We’ve got Democrats Bill Halter and Blanche Lincoln tit-for-tatting like two-years-olds while running for the Senate. Meanwhile, there’s a hubbub over Republican Steve Womack’s alleged (well, not alleged — he admitted it) use of public property in his race to represent the 3rd District in Congress (he’s the mayor of Rogers and some have pointed out that his use of his mayoral computer to send campaign literature is a no-no under Arkansas …

Commotion in the 3rd District?

Reports of campaign signs vanishing in the Third Congressional District have caused a stir among the many candidates gearing up for the Republican primary on May 18.
According to a “concerned citizen” who’s name won’t be revealed here as he doesn’t want to get tangled up in this story, an individual was spotted setting up “Womack for Congress” campaign signs on Monday in various vacant lots on U.S. 71-Business between Springdale and Bentonville. The aforementioned citizen got interested in what took place as the individual was reportedly removing signs belonging to …
