How’d those Razorbacks do in the NFL draft?

The NFL draft has ended so the time is right to make a record of which Arkansas Razorbacks players went where and in which rounds.
First of all, there’s the highly-touted Ryan Mallett. The quarterback opted to turn pro rather than spending his senior year at Arkansas. While a lot of us in the Natural State hoped he would stick around for another year and set a few more school records, it’s hard to blame him for moving on to the NFL.
Initially, there was a lot of speculation that Mallett would …

Garrick McGee leaving Arkansas?

What happens when you’re the offensive coordinator for the Arkansas Razorbacks and you go out job hunting?
Everyone in the world knows about it in a hurry.
The Associated Press (AP) reported on Wednesday afternoon that Garrick McGee has interviewed with the Connecticut Huskies about being the head coach. That report was followed in short order by a Tulsa World article stating that McGee has interviewed for the head coaching at the University of Tulsa.

Say it ain’t so, Ryan Mallett

It’s official — Ryan Mallett has decided to skip his senior year at the University of Arkansas and hop into the NFL draft.
Mallett made that announcement official when he released a statement through the university today (Jan. 6).
We at First Arkansas News can’t say we’re shocked by this development. The first story we ran on this site when we started back in April was this one about Mallett being named one of the top five offensive players to watch for the NFL draft in 2011.
So the news isn’t exactly shocking, …

Arkansas to the Sugar Bowl?

If there’s an Arkansas fan anywhere who hasn’t heard that the #12 Razorbacks just knocked off the #5 LSU Tigers 31-23, I’d be shocked.
At the risk of sounding redundant, we at First Arkansas News want to repeat it again. Some polls have LSU ranked #6 while some put the Tigers at #5. Regardless, Arkansas pulled off a very solid win tonight, finished out the regular season at 10-2 (6-2 in the SEC) and may be ranked in the top 10 (we’ll have to wait and see on that).
We’ll also have …
