Keep the ‘mas’ in ‘Xmas’

Being from Arkansas means at least one thing — you’re going to run across some strange stuff from time to time.
For that reason, we at First Arkansas News have started the soon-to-be-famous “Just what the hell is going on here?” photography series. The goal, of course, is to find some odd ball photos from around the state, post them and (in most cases) make fun of them.

Little Rock, Bentonville opening ice rinks Saturday

Two communities will be having an icy celebration this Saturday, literally. Both Bentonville and Little Rock will be holding opening ceremonies for their respective ice-skating rinks. Bentonville’s new ice rink will be a splash pad park in the summer months and is located at Lawrence Plaza, 214 NE A St.; and Little Rock’s ice rink will be at the River Market.
According to the City of Bentonville Parks and Recreation department, Saturday’s celebration schedule is as follows:

Rock Town Distillery — an all-Arkansas business

Phil Brandon, an Alltel Wireless executive turned distiller, is on the verge of producing liquor from Rock Town Distillery in Little Rock.
The company and its four employees claim the business is the first legal distillery to operate in Arkansas since Prohibition. Brandon hopes the new enterprise will be a hit in Arkansas and beyond, stating that his liquor will be manufactured with grain bought in Stuttgart and bourbon will be aged in barrels made in Hot Springs.
