Arkansas home sales up through May

Housing markets in Arkansas continued to improve in May according to the latest version of the Arkansas Home Sales Report from The City Wire in Fort Smith.
The monthly Arkansas Home Sales Report covers the four largest areas of the state — central Arkansas, Fort Smith, Jonesboro and northwest Arkansas. In those areas, sales were up more than 10 percent through May and average sales prices were up 15 percent for the first five months of the year. Arkansas’ large-market home sales fall in April

Homes sales in large markets in Arkansas fell in April to the lowest point they’ve been in that month in at least the past seven years.
Monthly homes sales data wasn’t tracked in Arkansas before 2005. April 2012 sales in central Arkansas, the Fort Smith area, the Jonesboro area and northwest Arkansas were lower than any previous April since 2005.

Arkansas homes sales up in first quarter

Homes sales in the major markets in Arkansas were up in the first quarter compared to the first three months of 2011.
For the purposes of this report, the major markets are located in the 14 counties of central Arkansas, the Fort Smith area, the Jonesboro area and northwest Arkansas. About 70 to 75 percent of the homes sold in Arkansas are in those combined four areas.

Three northwest Arkansas Realtor boards merge

On Feb. 2, the largest board of Realtors in Arkansas was created when members of the Metro Area Board of Realtors approved an agreement to merge the three real estate associations covering Benton and Washington counties.
The merger resulted in the formation of the Northwest Arkansas Board of Realtors, a group with around 1,500 members. The boards that agreed to merge are the Bentonville-Bella Vista Board of Realtors, Fayetteville-based Metro Area Board of Realtors and the Rogers Board of Realtors.

3 northwest Arkansas Realtor boards to vote on merger (again)

A proposal to merge three boards of Realtors in northwest Arkansas was defeated earlier this month, but the matter will be taken up again in February.
On Jan. 11, the Metro Area Board of Realtors met in Fayetteville and defeated a proposal to merge that board with the Bentonville-Bella Vista Board of Realtors, Rogers Board of Realtors. Members of the Metro Area Board defeated the proposal by 13 votes.

Northwest Arkansas Realtors turn down merger proposal

Northwest Arkansas real estate agents voted down a proposal that would have created the largest board of Realtors in the state.
The three boards subject to the proposed merger are based in Benton and Washington counties. The Metro Area Board has 898 members and covers Madison County, Washington County and the western half of Benton County. The Rogers Board has 468 members in the Rogers and Lowell areas while the Bentonville-Bella Vista board has 178 members. September homes sales up in central Arkansas

We’ve already seen that homes sales were up last month in northwest Arkansas and the same held true for markets in the central Arkansas market.
For the purposes of this report, the central Arkansas market includes Faulkner, Grant, Lonoke, Pulaski and Saline counties (which are located in the Little Rock-North Little Rock-Conway Metropolitan Statistical Area) and the nearby Jefferson and White counties. The ARA strikes back

Springdale-based Real Forms filed a breach of contract action against the Arkansas Realtors Association (ARA) on May 11 in Washington County Circuit Court and the trade association filed its response on Tuesday.
The brouhaha stems from a contract Real Forms and the ARA entered into last August under which the software company was to provide real estate contracts to Realtors throughout the Arkansas through a custom application. Central Arkansas homes sales down in April, too

We’ve already seen that homes sales in northwest Arkansas were down in April.
The same is true of markets in central Arkansas. According to Cooperative Arkansas Multiple Listings Services (CARMLS), there were 636 single-family, new and existing homes sold by Realtors in Faulkner, Grant, Lonoke, Pulaski and Saline counties last month. That’s down 32.05 percent from 936 homes sold in April 2010 and down 6.06 percent from 677 homes sold in April 2009.

Northwest Arkansas homes sales down in April

After a three-month run of improved homes sales, the numbers in northwest Arkansas started to slip in February and that trend continued through April.
Last month, 562 new and existing homes were sold by Realtors in Benton, Carroll, Madison and Washington counties — down 16.49 percent from the 673 sales in the same month last year.
