Anderson brings Missouri staff to Razorbacks

Just yesterday, new Razorbacks Head Basketball Coach Mike Anderson announced who will round out his staff next year.
While some have been quick to point out that Anderson imported his Missouri staff, here’s what’s striking about tho will be coaching the Hogs next year — a lot of those cats have substantial ties to Arkansas. In fact, it might be argued at least a couple of them have come back home to Arkansas and — what’s more — they’re coming from an era to which a lot of Razorbacks fans would …

It’s official — Mike Anderson is a Razorback (again)

After a day full of speculation, the University of Arkansas announced Wednesday night that Mike Anderson will succeed John Pelphrey as the Razorbacks’ head basketball coach.
Actually, we’ve had close to two weeks of speculation about who would replace Pelphrey. Anderson, of course, is a fascinating choice in that he was an assistant coach for the only Razorbacks basketball team to win an NCAA championship (that was back in 1994 when the Hogs knocked of a heavily favored Duke team) and one can’t help but wonder if the new coach will …

Mike Anderson to Arkansas — maybe

Unless you’re one of those Arkansans who has been unconscious for the past couple of weeks, you’re well aware that the University of Arkansas told head basketball coach John Pelphrey to hit the road on March 13.

ESPN reported earlier today that Arkansas Head Basketball Coach John Pelphrey had been dismissed and that has been proven true.
Indeed, the University of Arkansas issued a statement confirming that Pelphrey has been released. Pelphrey, in his four seasons at Arkansas, compiled a 69-59 overall record and a 25-39 record in the SEC. Additionally, the Hogs appeared in one NCAA tournament under Pelphrey, having made it to the second round in the 2007-08 season.
Those stats, clearly, weren’t good enough for the University of Arkansas. The question, of course, is who will …

ESPN analyst speculates on Pelphrey’s future

Will John Pelphrey return as the basketball coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks next year?
Doug Gottlieb, an ESPN college basketball analyst, doesn’t think so. In fact, he says Pelphrey’s job will come open and Arkansas will try to fill it with Missouri Coach Mike Anderson. Gottlieb made that declaration while a guest on a radio show at 810 WSB in Kansas City.
Before anyone gets too excited over Gottlieb’s prediction, it’s worth mentioning that the University of Arkansas hasn’t confirmed that Pelphrey’s job is in jeopardy (no one his right mind expects …
