Back on May 25, 2013, First Arkansas News published an article about the Hyperkin Retron 5. About this time last year, First Arkansas News ran an article waxing poetic about the forthcoming Hyperkin Retron5. The Retron5 has been promoted as just the machine a lot of us people who love classic console gaming have wanted for a long time. Hyperkin announces Dec. 10 release date for Retron 5

At last, the folks at Hyperkin have broken their silence by announcing the Retron 5 will be released on Dec. 10 in the U.S. and Europe. We at First Arkansas News have waxed poetic about the Retron 5 since first learning of the existence of the game console this spring and did promise to mention when Hyperkin announced an official release date. So far this year, Nintendo has replaced its Wii console with the Wii U and we know a couple of other major consoles are on their way — the Microsoft Xbox One and the Sony Playstation 4. Ah, but what of people who still love those old eight and 16-bit games?

The lucky folks over at Engadget caught up with Hyperkin this week at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) and reported that the Retron 5 sounds even better than it did when we at First Arkansas News wrote about it a few weeks ago.
