Churches collecting for Feed the Need on May 26

During the school year, kids in need throughout Arkansas are often benefited by backpack programs. Bear in mind that we’re using the term “backpack program” as a generic description of anything schools have in place to send food home for children that run the risk of not having any meals at home on the weekends.
The question, of course, is what’s being done for those kids during the summer when there are no school counselors or staff around to make sure food is sent home with children who need it?

Hunger follows Gone: Michael Grant Gets Gross

ROGERS – The kids, being kids without adult supervision, eat all the junk food first.
The cookies, candy bars, sodas and burritos get gobbled, while perfectly good meat and produce rots in the supermarket cases and the refrigerators and freezers in empty houses.
Such is the scenario in Hunger,the sequel to Michael Grant’s Gone, which I reviewed on April 25.
