Week in Review (March 21-27)

It’s been a heck of a week on a number of levels here in Arkansas.
For one thing, that pesky winter returned in full force about the middle of the week. Indeed, our 70-degree, sunny days were replaced by near-freezing temperatures and nasty rain by the weekend.
For another, the question a heck of a lot of us Arkansans wanted to know was answered this week — who will replace deposed Razorbacks Basketball Coach John Pelphrey? Also, we had the state Legislature going about its business of annoying us with new laws. …

The Frank Doolittle Co. — made in America

While there are more than a few American companies willing to wave the flag and proclaim their patriotism, how many times is that banner manufactured in another country?
The Frank Doolittle Co. of Bellevue, Wash., is more than a bit different in that regard. Why? The 12-person company, essentially, buys American-made products and customizes them with logos, emblems and whatever else its clients order. Baseball caps, watches, coffee mugs, shirts and other items are customized to order and, according to vice president Lori Gartner, were primarily manufactured by American, unionized companies.
