What a spectacular fireworks display last night in downtown Bentonville!! Fireworks were going off everywhere! I’m a Michigan girl, and where I come from the law prohibits personal use of fireworks. So, this was a new and quite fun experience to see the big bombs going off everywhere across city! The main attraction happened at the new Orchards Park on NE J St. right next to Memorial Park. The show lasted for over a half hour and was super fun to watch through my camera lens. Happy Birthday …

Remember when we threw a fit last year about the city of Benton’s fireworks ban on the Fourth of July?
Well, here’s a small reminder that the Benton City Council lifted that ban in May after it had been in place for seven years. Also, vendors can once again sell fireworks inside the Benton city limits. Also, residents are only allowed to set off fireworks between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. on July 3-5.
Ah, but what of a burn ban? The ordinance is rather silent as to that, but it’s not …

Here’s one for the “the world’s become more of a drag since I was a kid” file — fireworks have been banned in scenic Benton, Ark.
It might seem unfathomable for a small town in the South to ban fireworks, but there’s an ordinance in place that’s even enforced from time to time.
It’s been illegal for private citizens to set off fireworks in the Benton city limits since Ordinance No. 32 of 2004 was passed a few years ago (click here for the PDF if the previous Word link didn’t work …
