Arkansas releases 2012 football schedule … sort of

Get ready, Hogs fans — the University of Arkansas has released its 2012 football schedule.
Well, sort of. There are 11 games on the schedule, but one more out-of-conference opponent is to be added for a home game on either Sept. 22 or Oct. 20. That’s not too big of a deal — we’re confident the UA will choose a sacrificial lamb for the missing non-SEC game soon enough. Also, the UA hasn’t yet mentioned which home games will be played in Fayetteville and which ones will be in Little Rock.

Garrick McGee headed to UAB

Our loss is their gain — Arkansas Offensive Coordinator Garrick McGee has been named head coach of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).
McGee has been the offensive coordinator at the University of Arkansas for the past two seasons. It’s worth mentioning that the Razorbacks went 10-2 in the regular season both this year and last and that the Hogs led the SEC in passing offense this year. Arkansas to the Cotton Bowl? Freeze to Ole Miss?

Everyone in the state of Arkansas who hasn’t been living under a rock has already heard the news by now, but we thought we’d repeat it  — the Arkansas Razorbacks will face the Kansas State Wildcats in the Cotton Bowl on Jan. 6 at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas.
Both are two-loss teams. Arkansas closed out the season ranked 6th in the nation and Kansas State is ranked 8th. It’s worth mentioning that Arkansas is not heading for a Bowl Championship Series (BCS) game as only two teams per conference can appear …
