John Robert Starr comments on the ‘Toe Suck Fairy’

Yes, it’s true — the infamous “Toe Suck Fairy” was back to his old tricks and has been caught yet again.
According to Reuters, 50-year-old Michael Robert Wyatt of Vilonia (Faulkner County) was arrested by officers from the Conway Police Department after he spent a few weeks allegedly approaching women in convenience stores and asking if he could suck their toes.

Hendrix College to add teams, join new conference

Hendrix College — a liberal arts college in Conway, Ark. — will join seven fellow NCAA Division III institutions in forming a new athletic conference.
Spanning six states, the new conference also will include Berry College in Georgia, Birmingham-Southern College in Alabama, Centre College in Kentucky, Millsaps College in Mississippi, Oglethorpe University in Georgia, and Rhodes College and Sewanee – The University of the South — both in Tennessee.

Bargains Galore on 64 starts Thursday

The annual Bargains Galore on 64 is set for Thursday, Friday and Saturday, (Aug. 12-14) running 160 miles from Beebe to Fort Smith.
The 11th year for the event, organizers say that shoppers come from around the country to seek out bargains. This year, they are predicting larger crowds and more vendors.
While this shopper likes the sales spaced out all along the roadside on Highway 64, I have also found some extreme bargains at garage sales located just off the main drag during the event. My best advice is to hit …

Eagle Fest scheduled for June in Vilonia

Those wanting to have a good time in the state might want to mark June 11-13 on the calendar as a time to visit the city of Vilonia, located just outside of Conway, to take part in the Eagle Fest activities. That may also be the place to be that weekend if you are a food or a craft vendor.

Annual Toad Suck Daze happening this weekend in Conway

If you are into the four F’s — family, food, fun and free admission — downtown Conway is the place to be this weekend.
Slated as the largest free admission festival in Arkansas, Toad Suck Daze kicks off Friday beginning at about 4:15 going through Sunday afternoon.
