Reporter’s Notebook: Christmas at the Saline County Courthouse

Every year in Benton, the Saline County Courthouse is spiffed up for Christmas.
A featured event at the annual Christmas parade near the first of December involves one lucky child from the county turning on the Christmas lights surrounding the courthouse lawn, thus signaling that the holiday season is in full swing. More lights get added every year and the events surrounding the courthouse during the December increase, too.

TAP America, a non-profit organization, has declared December 2011 as “Buy American Month.”
TAP – an acronym for Tolerance, Americanism, Patriotism – said in a news release that the United States economy is suffering at the hands of the Chinese government due to their aggressive policies.
