Flood photos from northwest Arkansas

We at First Arkansas News posted some flood photos from northwest Arkansas yesterday, but a reader sent some more in so we’re showing those, too.
Before getting into all of that, bear in mind that the National Weather Service is calling for more flooding and tornadoes through Wednesday. Beebe declares state of emergency, more bad weather in store

As if Monday night wasn’t bad enough, the National Weather Service reports that more bad weather is on the way.
First, let’s review. Storms bringing buckets of rain, high winds and a tornado or two pounded central Arkansas on Monday night, while flooding was a problem in northwest Arkansas throughout Monday. How bad was the flooding in the northwest corner of the state? So bad that the University of Arkansas canceled classes around 3:30 p.m. and sent everyone home.

Worse than we thought

The National Weather Service and just about every media outlet in Arkansas warned us snow was on the way Wednesday.
They were all right, but it appears the initial precipitation projections were a bit low. The National Weather Service predicted we’d see up to 6 inches of snow in some areas and a bit more than that in others. Snow hits central Arkansas — sort of

Schools throughout Friday either canceled classes or shot down early due to snow, but the streets never got that bad.
The snow started falling here in central Arkansas at about 9 a.m. on Friday, was gone 12 hours later and left a lot of wet streets, icy windshields and snow-covered lawns in its wake. According to the National Weather Service, some areas of central Arkansas got as much as 3 inches of snow throughout the day and the group issued a winter weather advisory until 4 a.m. for most of the …
