Christmas programs
Oh, you lucky thing. Your good friends at First Arkansas News have a Christmas present all lined up for you — three complete Christmas old time radio serials that have thrilled and delighted listeners for decades.
Why do it? Because Christmas is all about good times and tradition and we like the heck out of every bit of that. We want to do our small part to make your Christmas just a bit more enjoyable, so it seems only natural to post some outstanding entertainment that’s family friendly and will leave listeners with a permanent case of the grins (well, we hope things work out that way, at least). So, here’s the deal. We’ll post new episodes daily starting Nov. 22 all the way through Christmas eve. Remember — after the first of the year, these episodes will be put away until next year.
What serials are included? Here we go:
Jump Jump and the Ice Queen
According to the renowned experts from the Old Time Radio Researchers Group (OTRR), Jump Jump — a three-inch-tall elf — was originally conceived as the anchor character for a series of animated specials that would air all year round.
Those ideas were scrapped and character became the focal point for a radio-based Christmas adventure. The 25-episodes serial originally ran from Nov. 22 through Dec. 24, 1948 and we’ll try to follow the original running order as closely as practical.

The Cinnamon Bear
This might well be the most celebrated Christmas serial out there. Yes, it originally aired in 1932 and, seemingly, is still broadcast every Christmas season by one radio station or another. So, we’re just kind of doing the same thing — contributing to what has become a tradition in some circles.
One odd thing about this series is that some accounts put the debut date of it on Nov. 26, 1937, while the episodes we have carry a start date of Nov. 29 in that same year. So, what are we to do? We’ll stick with the Nov. 29 date and post episodes accordingly.
The story involves a couple of kids who go on a journey to recover the star from their Christmas tree and are aided in their quest by Paddy O’Cinnamon — a stuffed bear who saved the kids from more than a couple of scraps and proved invaluable during the quest. Fun stuff? You’d better believe it — click the below players and enjoy.
