Blue Beetle

For one reason or another, the Blue Beetle was never a wildly popular superhero.

Yes, the character has been around for some time. The Blue Beetle first appeared in Fox Comics in 1939, was purchased by Charlton Comics in the 1950s and had been a DC property since 1983.

Regardless of what publishing house has its mitts on the character, the character seems to follow a patter. He’ll get revamped and given a series that’s supposed to be the greatest thing ever. The series never lasts long and the Blue Beetle winds up getting mixed in with a team of more popular heroes.

The Blue Beetle’s appearance on radio followed a similar pattern. The character had a show that lasted for only a few months in 1940 and starred Frank Lovejoy (for a few episodes, at least). It might not have lasted long, but it sure was entertaining and we’re posting the series here at First Arkansas News. Enjoy!
