Elon Musk said Tesla has experienced "the most excruciating hellish several months that we've ever had".
Coming into the meeting there was the possibility - albeit small - that shareholders might not re-elect three board members, including Kimbal Musk, Elon's brother, nor allow Elon Musk to retain his dual CEO and board chairman titles.
This was in spite of some stakeholders raising concern that a board with these directors lacked independence.
The bid to strip him of the chairmanship was the strongest challenge yet to Mr Musk's control of Tesla, in which he holds a 20% stake. "We're confident we know how to address them".More news: Apple watchOS 5 Adds Walkie-Talkie Feature, Activity Sharing, & More

Musk said on Tuesday that a goal of building 5,000 Model 3s per week by the end of June was "quite likely" as the company's production lines were now demonstrating the ability to build 3,500 vehicles per week.
Musk appeared on stage visibly shaken with a quiver in his voice.
Musk had forecasted that Tesla would have produced 400,000 Model 3 vehicles by now, but has failed to produce even a quarter of that figure.
An individual shareholder had also put forth a proposal that would have required an independent chairman, which was backed by proxy advisers Institutional Shareholder Services and Glass Lewis, but was ultimately voted down. After raising money for the Boring Company by selling hats, Musk tweeted he would next sell flamethrowers. No further details were given, but Musk didn't answer another part of the question that asked whether a subcompact (B-segment) auto would be made, suggesting that Tesla will not go smaller than the Volkswagen Golf - at least within the five-year timeframe. "Then I had a road bike until I was 17 and was nearly killed by a truck", Musk said.
There is also suggestion of a redesign of Tesla's upcoming Semi lorry. The rate of stationary storage deployment is going to grow exponentially. Still just one-third complete, it already takes two hours to walk the length of the factory floor, according to Musk. A Europe Gigafactory announcement may come by the end of the year, with the location as of now undecided.
