It connects to Pokemon Go and there's also a brand new device called the PokeballPlus. You can use it like a Joy Con to control your Switch, or use it to search for Pokemon on the go without opening your phone.
Although we were initially skeptical about the announcement, after consulting a few Pokemon franchise veterans and a few fellow gaming journalists, we are inclined to believe that this announcement will reference Pokemon GO in a number of ways. The gadget will initially be sold only in Japan.
Our expectations mostly follow what was already mentioned in our article on the previous Pokemon Switch leak. That's could be disappointing, given that Nintendo is planning to roll out its Switch online service in September. Quest can be downloaded now on the eShop and in by the end of June in the app stores, and is a free-to-start title. The role-playing game will be followed next year by a more ambitious Pokemon-based title that will debut in the second half of 2019, Nintendo said. However, it could just free-to-play like Fire Emblem Warriors instead.
