India today said it was deeply concerned with tensions on the boundary fence between the Gaza strip and Israel where more than 50 Palestinians have lost their lives, and urged all sides to avoid escalation of the situation.
On Wednesday, Tayyip Erdogan likewise said that the United Nations failed to stop the Gaza killings.
Putin and Erdogan also discussed the Syrian settlement and Russian-Turkish cooperation in the energy sector.
The exchanges of fire came after weeks of mass protests and clashes on the Gaza border, which peaked on Monday when more than 60 Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces. Dozens of protesters had already been killed before Monday's incidents. The opening - attended by Guatemalan president Jimmy Morales - came just two days after a high-powered USA delegation also marked the transfer of its embassy from Tel Aviv. Though the whole city is now under Israeli control, the Palestinians lay claim to East Jerusalem, including the Old City, as their capital.

Israel on Wednesday welcomed another embassy in Jerusalem just two days after the landmark move by the United States, even as the diplomatic fallout over Gaza bloodshed intensified with Israel and Turkey trading bitter recriminations.

The strikes targeted four Hamas-affiliated buildings and infrastructure objects in a military compound of the Sunni organization, while three more sorties were launched at a weapons production facility, the IDF said.
The Israeli military has come under heavy worldwide criticism for firing on unarmed protesters, and faces accusations of using disproportionate force.
Israel captured east Jerusalem in the 1967 Mideast war, but it is not recognised by global community. "This march is the embodiment of popular action involving children, women, and involving all the Palestinians that refuse to accept the occupation of our land".
Israel regards all of the city, including the eastern sector it annexed after the 1967 conflict, as its capital.
The U.S. says it has the right to decide where to put its embassy, and Haley said Tuesday the decision simply recognized "reality".
Earlier this week, at least 58 people were killed and 2,700 people injured in the bloodiest day of protests in Gaza since the 2014 war with Israel.
