Prosecutors say he used the program at his apartment in NY, but they haven't provided evidence that he did it to leak classified information.
"Due to these unfortunate coincidences the Federal Bureau of Investigation ultimately made the snap judgment that I was guilty of the leaks and targeted me", Schulte wrote in a statement obtained by the Post.
In August previous year, authorities filed child pornography charges against Schulte, who is in a jail in Manhattan, after claiming to have found 10,000 illicit images on a server that he had set up in 2009 while studying at the University of Texas in Austin. His lawyers maintain he had nothing to do with the Vault 7 leaks, and he has not been charged with any crimes related to the case.
Recall that in 2017, the website WikiLeaks published thousands of documents, allegedly belonging to the Center kiberrazvedki Central Intelligence Agency. After quitting the CIA in November 2016 - according to Roger he had complained about security vulnerabilities at the agency - he joined Bloomberg as a software engineer. He states that he "developed a multitude of Quick Reactions Capabilities (QRCs) in C/C++ for both Windows and Linux systems to support clandestine operations".
Schulte also claimed that he reported "incompetent management and bureaucracy" at the CIA to that agency's inspector general as well as a congressional oversight committee.

A government prosecutor disagreed with what he called the "characterization" by Schulte's attorney that "those search warrants haven't yielded anything that is consistent with [Schulte's] involvement in that disclosure". "In fact, our investigation is ongoing", Laroche said.
The full scope of the case against Schulte is unclear.
Shroff says Schulte has spent years working to ensure the safety of his country.
