Michael Carrick has revealed his desire to one day become a manager as he prepares to bring down the curtain on a glittering playing career and join Jose Mourinho's coaching staff at Manchester United.
The Red Devils will be looking to extend their lead for second place to six points in the Premier League and Jose Mourinho will want his side to use the remaining two fixtures as momentum boosts as his team face his former employers, Chelsea, in the FA Cup final.
"How many points distinguish us from Manchester City?".
"If those two things happen, then we've took what we can out of the season at this point".
And he also feels it is Mourinho's job to get the most out of his squad of players next season and make them more consistent. In my squad, I have some players where I would like to have better than what I have. I give my assistants very good conditions for their evolution. I have to try to succeed in getting every player to have the same mentality as I have. "Some others I have great hopes they're going to make it and others I don't think they will make it".More news: Trump threatens 'severe consequences' if Iran resumes nuclear program

"The most important quality is to be a proper man. Football is not full of them - and not just football, society is not full of them, so when you find one of them, you have to value them and you have to keep them. When you lose against all the teams that were promoted, that doesn't smell right for me".
"He impresses me. That's the reason why he was selected for every match of the season - absolutely every match of the season - and that's why he played in so many of them".
He has scored five goals this campaign and provided seven assists and has played in a range of positions which Mourinho would like. "But when you lose against the big teams and you win against the small teams, that is also not right".
He believes another heavy churn of players is not something Manchester United should want as it is important to have some consistency in terms of personnel. In my squad, I have some players where I would like to have better than what I have.
"So, at this moment, for me, he is staying".
