Susan Collins (R-ME) said FBI Director James Comey is trying to "cash in" on his book in the middle of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation. President Trump appointed Liu in July 2017. "Because we believe that those in positions of high authority should be treated the same as every other American, we want to be sure that the potential violations of law outlined below are vetted appropriately".
Less than two weeks before the election, which he and most others saw as a surefire win for Clinton, he announced the Clinton email case had been reopened based on new files found on disgraced congressman Anthony Weiner's laptop.
The documents had been eagerly anticipated since their existence was first revealed past year, especially since Comey's interactions with Trump are part of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into whether the president sought to obstruct justice.
The Department of Justice's inspector general is reviewing how Comey handled the memos, including whether any classified information was improperly shared, sources familiar with the matter told CNN. But while he left little doubt that gross negligence was criminal the way the law was written, he concluded there was no criminal intent and that "no reasonable prosecutor" would bring charges under these circumstances.
Amid the string of insults, Comey said in a BBC interview that aired Thursday night that he did not dislike Trump but rather felt "sorry for him as a person".

Flynn is now cooperating with Mueller's investigators. And that numbing is preventing us from asking the question.
Just saying the investigation should be dropped could make it look like the Justice Department was in cahoots with the Clintons. Scott has already weighed in on the memos, which you can read in his post or here, and Paul has noted the reaction of Bob Goodlatte, Trey Gowdy and Devin Nunes. The investigation is about who leaked sensitive information to The Wall Street Journal in 2016. McCabe is now facing a criminal referral over unauthorized leaks to the media and allegedly lying about it.
The documents cover the early months of the Trump administration, a period of upheaval marked by staff turnover, a cascade of damaging headlines and revelations of an FBI investigation into potential ties between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation. He suggested that the inspector general's office should "credit Mr. McCabe's account over Director Comey's".
"McCabe and Yates, both of whom were fired, approved a FISA warrant on Page, [not to mention that] McCabe was also accused of political bias and lack of candor in his handling of the Clinton investigation", Ralph and Sheth stressed.
