Bungie has stealthily announced Destiny 2's next expansion, Warmind, in a development roadmap posted on the developer's website. All new Crucible maps will now be part of standard rotation for all players, whether or not they purchase the DLC expansions. In the summer, you can also expect some tweaks to come, including bounties, new seasonal event and PC clan chat.
The beginning of Season 3 (which will coincide with the launch of the new expansion) will have a change in how Bungie delivers Crucible content to players. This will also kickstart Season Three and the arrival of update 1.2.0, which includes seasonal Crucible Rankings, Private Matches, an increase to vault space, and more. Developers will be changing how players work with loadouts, and there are planned alterations to Weapon Randomization, Weapon Slot Changes, Gear Collections, and Records. That's okay with us though, as to be honest it's about time we had something meaty to tuck into; Curse of Osiris is around four months old, after all.More news: Netflix, Inc. Are you still playing Destiny 2? Early unofficial information - alongside the one piece of concept art that Bungie has released for Warmind - suggests that the expansion will take place somewhere in the frozen tundras of Mars.
Formally titled Warmind, the latest Destiny 2 expansion is slated to land right around the start of the game's third season. Nightfall challenge cards and heroic strike modifiers bring a new level of difficulty to existing content, while exotic weapon masterworks and sandbox changes provide boosts to players' rarest weapons. That means if you play lots of Quickplay, Competitive, Trials of the Nine, Iron Banner or weekly rotations, all new maps will be there. This is to help unify the Crucible community and give players more opponents to battle during matches, Bungie says.
But now Bungie has revealed the official name as just Warmind, and that it'll be out on May 8 with the beginning of season three. If these plans change-and plans have a way of doing that-we'll keep refreshing this roadmap on a monthly basis.
