At the ongoing 2018 New York International Auto Show, Genesis has revealed a brand new futuristic concept called the Essentia. It's the first battery electric vehicle to be revealed under the Genesis nameplate, too. In fact, we dare say, this is the kind of vehicle that makes you want to visit motor shows.
So, the proportions are classic, gas-guzzling GT, with a lengthy hood and a cabin positioned as far back as possible. The study is not only strikingly lovely, though, but also advanced as it is entirely made out of carbon fiber including body and chassis. The glass-like hood of the vehicle also extends over the Essentia's cockpit, providing a transparent roof for the driver of the auto.
Genesis' traditional grille is hinted at, but in a more abstract way, at the front.
The rear of Genesis Essentia Concept houses the flush rear quad lights and highlights the muscles of the rear haunch. A repeat of the Quad Lights seen on the 2017 GV80 concept wagon, the narrow lights are repeated at the rear. Midas metal copper picks out detailing and matches the huge wheels. The seats themselves are upholstered in Cognac leather with chevron quilting, while a slim centre console wrapped in blue leather separates driver and front passenger. The front and rear seat belt slots are out of the ordinary, as well, composed of glass pearl finished/treated aluminum and polished aluminum. The driver gets an 8-inch wide-screen display in front.

The advanced computer-based technology-dubbed Genesis Intelligent Assistant-is also capable of cyber mind-reading, interpreting the driver's mood and managing vehicle operations to suit that mood.
Other sophisticated features of the Essentia include speech recognition allowing for "full vehicle control through voice command", according to a statement announcing the vehicle; an in-car mobile payments system; and interconnectivity with smart home devices, among other features. Just in case, presumably, you need to renew your Spotify subscription while on the highway. In line with Essentia's objective as a true grand tourer, a luggage compartment behind the rear seats affords plenty of cargo room for a weekend road trip with no particular destination in mind. The official release just says that there'll be "high-density battery pack and multiple electric motors".
Essentia uses a multi-motor all-electric powertrain and the manufacturer claims it can sprint to sixty in three seconds dead and that it "brings sports car-level performance to the realm of electric luxury coupes".
