Two policemen escorting prisoners to a health facility were killed in Srinagar when Lashkar-e-Tayyeba (LeT) terrorists attacked them to take away a handcuffed Pakistani terrorist, believed to be a highly influential in the outfit's ranks.
A jailed Pakistani terrorist shot his way out of a hospital in Srinagar on Tuesday, killing two of his police escorts as he made his escape, the state's top police officer said. While Jat managed to escape, the others remain in police custody. As they were advancing towards hospital ward, two militants were already present near the stairs who abruptly fired on the cops.
Police in a statement said that a nursing orderly of Central Jail Srinagar accompanied the prisoners.

Unsure whether Naveed was still hiding inside the hospital, police cordoned off the premise and emergency services are functioning inside the hospital. He was involved in the killings of three security personnel in South Kashmir and attacks on police pickets. Jutt was among the six prisoners, and the only Pakistani, brought to the hospital for checkup on Tuesday. The attackers reportedly snatched a carbine rifle from one of the policeman stationed outside the hospital, and resorted to firing. A soon as the trio reached a narrow lane, terrorists opened fire on both policemen and ran away with the prisoner. As per eye witness two gunmen were waiting in the hospital, they opened fire on the cops and fled the scene on a motor cycle which was parked at the hospital along with Naveed.
"The hospital remains crowded with patients and their attendants, and such an attack at the heart of Srinagar needs to be taken seriously", he said, and asked the government to probe how it happened.
It has also been stated that Abu Hanzulla had a major role in the recent attack on Border Security Force (BSF) convey in Udhampur.
