We first presented a prototype of our fingerprint scanning solution at MWC Shanghai 2017 based on an ultrasonic sensor, and have remained committed to realizing our vision for future smartphones, Alex Feng, Senior Vice President of Vivo, said in a statement. This may be true as this phone was earlier spotted online with an under-display fingerprint sensor.
The first smartphone with an in-display fingerprint sensor is here.
With the Home button sacrificed for a full-frontal display, Apple reportedly sought to integrate the sensor within the screen itself.
"At CES 2018, Vivo announced that it will be using Synaptics" in-fingerprint scanner in its upcoming smartphone. The world's first smartphone with the under-display fingerprint reader technology is ready to debut the tech industry.More news: NFL Investigating Richie Incognito Racial Slur Allegation by Yannick Ngakoue

Vivo says that the device indicates when it needs you to place your finger on the display, the company says that a fingerprint image will appear on the display where you need to place your finger, after which the phone will unlock.
Synaptics has first revealed this technology in December 2017 and the news had sparked speculation as to which smartphones would sport this particular technology. These fingerprint sensors can be embedded inside the display and will be scratch-proof as well waterproof. The under-display fingerprint sits between the OLED panel and the mainboard.
The phone is developed with thin-bezel and display offers 18:9 aspect ratio.
As the biometric scanner can be fitted under the screen, we can expect a number of smartphones ditching the rear-mounted fingerprint scanners for a more comfortable user experience. When fingerprint recognition is not required, the fingerprint user interface will be invisible and will not disrupt the overall visual experience. According to a press statement from the company, this smartphone with the new fingerprint scanner technology is "ready-to-produce". This newest fingerprint scanning technology will let fans unlock their smartphone through a one-touch fingerprint scanning technology right through the smartphone's display.
