Gruden has been the analyst for ESPN's Monday Night Football since 2009 and is now tasked with turning around a Raiders team that vastly underachieved in 2017.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Gruden's contract is for 10 years _ the longest coaching contract in history _ and worth around $100 million. The Raiders are set to bring Jon Gruden back for a second stint as coach.

But there has been mostly a run of losing seasons under nine coaches as only the Cleveland Browns had lost more games during Gruden's 16-year absence than the Raiders.
According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Gruden's contract, and the contracts his assistants will sign, will be heavily backloaded.
Gruden was born in Sandusky, Ohio in 1963 and grew up as the son of Jim Gruden, a professional football regional scout, who also served as a running backs coach and director of player personnel on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Gibbs stepped away following the 1992 season with three Super Bowl titles in his career.
The move comes 20 years after he was hired by late owner Al Davis as the NFL's youngest head coach at age 34.
