FOX 5 spoke to a close friend of Davis who said she had a medical emergency at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
She was rushed to a hospital and treated, but it proved to be too late. Davis was pronounced dead around 9:30PM, and was about to board a flight to San Antonio following the death of her step-father.
Davis, who had been a television anchor in Atlanta for more than 25 years, was anchor for WGCL-TV's morning news and noon show. Understandably, Amanda's family is asking for "privacy at this hard time". "Amanda's friends and colleagues at CBS 46 are praying for her family".

Davis gave an interview detailing her battle with alcoholism in a 2016 interview with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Wednesday was the day her stepfather's funeral was scheduled to take place.
As news of Davis' death spread, people offered tributes on Twitter.
She also worked to find permanent homes for Georgia foster care children and began this community project in 1997 with a series called "Home for the Holidays" in which 32 children were placed in homes in the first year. Said another: "Man... May Amanda Davis rest in power". On Wednesday, she passed away after being hospitalized for what was described as a "massive" stroke. "Amanda Davis persevered through it all, despite the dark time she knew her goal and it was her passion".
