The "Christmas Blizzard of 2009" raged over south central Nebraska and northern Kansas for 18 to 24 hours straight-with 30- to 60-mile-per-hour winds creating frequent "white-out" conditions.
Because of the low temperatures, meteorologists recommend layering clothes and wearing hats and gloves to cover any exposed skin. "Snowfall amounts will range from 3-6" in the lower valley to 4-8" along the east slopes of the Berkshires into Franklin county.
