THE SKINNY: Normally, I couldn't give a spit who wins any of these bowl games as long as they put on a good, entertaining show. Schools are allowed to count one FCS win towards its six-win minimum for bowl eligibility, but that FCS school reportedly must have a 90 percent scholarship threshold.
Florida State will still play in the December 27 Independence Bowl, largely because it is too late to make a change.
This means that they were not in compliance with Exception 220.127.116.11.1 in the NCAA Division I Manual.
While Florida State will still play in the Independence Bowl against Southern Mississippi, it turns out that the team never should have been invited in the first place.
