Before SMU, Morris spent four seasons at Clemson, where he helped turn the Tigers into an offensive power house with his "tempo" approach and played a major role in the recruitment of quarterback Deshaun Watson, now with the Houston Texans.
Previously, he served as offensive coordinator at Clemson and was a successful high school coach in Texas.
Per Trey Biddy of HawgSports.com, Morris will be named the Razorbacks' head coach.

Chad Morris has left SMU for Arkansas.
Arkansas' search began without an athletic director; Jeff Long was also fired last month. "Coach Morris aligns with the priorities we sought to find in our next head football coach including relentless work ethic and the ability to maintain good relationships within our state and beyond to attract the nation's top talent".
Morris replaces Bret Bielema at Arkansas.
The 49-year-old Morris is known for a high-scoring, spread offense and putting up points and yards in a hurry. He broke into the college ranks as an assistant coach at Tulsa in 2010 after a decorated high school coaching career in Texas that included back-to-back undefeated state championship seasons at Lake Travis in 2008 and 2009, as well as a championship at Bay City in 2000. He totaled a 169-38 record (.816) and earned Coach of the Year honors 11 times. Bielema had been the head coach for the Badgers since 2006. He took over an SMU team that finished 1-11 in 2014, won two games his first season and improved to 5-7 in 2016 and 7-5 this year.
Just more than a week after ending the 2017 season with a 4-8 record and firing their head coach, Arkansas has found their new leader of the football program.
