Local law enforcement has stepped up the search for a missing North Carolina girl after she disappeared from her home.
A statewide Amber Alert has been issued for Mariah.
"Mariah is described as 2'9" tall, weighing approximately 28 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.
The girl's mother, Kristy Woods, told authorities she last saw her daughter on Sunday night when she put her to bed.
Family members say Mariah shouldn't have been able to get far because of an orthopedic leg problem, which causes her to wobble while walking. The following morning, at around 6:30 a.m., Hunter said she checked on Mariah again, but she was nowhere in the home and hasn't been seen since.
The Onslow County Sheriff's Office and FBI held their third joint press conference on Thursday to discuss their investigation into Mariah's disappearance.
Several hours after releasing the photo taken from at a Walmart in North Carolina, investigators confirmed the child is not 3-year-old Mariah Kay Woods, who was last seen at her home late Sunday night.
Kristy Woods said her daughter disappeared from her bedroom and that she does not know what happened to her
Onslow County Sheriff Hans Miller said officials have set up a volunteer search for Friday in hopes of finding 3-year-old Mariah Woods.
'Please, bring her back.
Family members said there was no sign of forced entry or anything wrong with Mariah's room but did say the back door was unlocked, reported CBS affiliate WNCT. Miller said the community's outpouring of support has led investigators to allow citizens to join searches Friday.
Kirsty, who refers to Mariah as her "angel" because she became pregnant shortly after getting her tubes tied, believes she may have been taken.
"Our partners with U.S. Marine Corp provided an osprey to transport the items directly to Quantico, so testing could begin immediately, those items will be a priority for processing so we can determine whether or not they contain any evidentiary value", he said.
Sheriff Miller also said that officials are making a public call for help in the search.
Mariah's biological father is questioning the reported kidnapping, saying it's hard to believe no one in the house heard anything.
"I'm emotional about this", Sheriff Miller said. To date, authorities they have followed up on more than 140 leads. Investigators have been searching by foot and air and using K-9s.More news: Australian lawmakers pass same-sex marriage bill
