Michael Flynn's legal team recently informed President Trump's lawyers that they can no longer discuss special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation - a move that indicates Flynn, Mr. Trump's former national security adviser, may now be cooperating with the investigation into potential Russian interference in the 2016 USA presidential election and Trump campaign collusion with the Kremlin.
Flynn didn't file federal documents showing that he was paid to work for Turkish interests until March 2017.
Flynn - a longtime Trump supporter, former Army lieutenant general, and director of the Defense Intelligence Agency under President Obama from 2012 to 2014 - served as the president's national security adviser for less than one month before resigning in February.
Flynn resigned as one of Trump's top aides less than a month after the inauguration after copping to misleading Vice President Mike Pence about the extent of his dealings with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak, including discussions about USA sanctions, during the 2016 campaign.
Now it appears that Flynn might already be divulging what he knows, and likely opening a line of communication with special counsel Robert Mueller's investigators.
The termination of the information-sharing agreement, the Times reports, indicates Flynn is likely cooperating with Mueller's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election in an attempt to negotiate a more favorable deal for himself.
"What you want from Flynn is confirmation, whether through documentation or testimony, that it was in fact the deliberate plan for the Trump campaign to communicate they were going to unilaterally drop sanctions on Russian Federation if Trump won the election", he said. If Flynn has made a decision to formally consider cooperating with prosecutors, then it would be standard practice for his lawyers to quit talking shop with Trump's team.

A deal with Mr. Flynn would give Mr. Mueller a behind-the-scenes look at the Trump campaign and the early tumultuous weeks of the administration.
'If Michael Flynn did something wrong by not disclosing the relationships he had with Turkey and other governments, then he should be held accountable for that, ' Lewandowski said Friday morning.
"Flynn can tell investigators more about what Trump was [allegedly] doing really behind the scenes with respect to Russian Federation than any witness Mueller now has ready and steady access to", he said.
The special cousel announced the first criminal charges in his investigation last month, including the guilty plea of a foreign-policy adviser to the campaign, George Papadopoulos, and the indictments of former campaign chairman Paul Manafort and his business associate Rick Gates.
Senior White House adviser Jared Kushner may not be as confident as Flynn about the Oval Office being beyond Mueller's reach.
Lewandowski, who worked with Flynn during the campaign season, said that 'Mike's not a bad guy.
