Alphabet's owned brand Nest also linked its devices with Google Assistant support.
As the competition in the smart home speaker market continues to heat up from established players Amazon.com Inc. and Apple Inc., which is due to release its premium HomePod next month, Google needs to keep adding new features and devices to remain competitive.
You can now use your Google Home devices as an intercom system. Earlier this year, ecobee launched the ecobee4 smart thermostat bringing with it the most advanced features that the line of devices had yet to offer, while boasting that it could potentially save customers up to 23 percent in energy costs every year, all at a price of $249.
Google wants Assistant to get more involved in your household. This will transmit the message to the user on their Google Home.
The initial rollout of the update has already begun, covering the regions of US, Australia, Canada and UK.More news: Woman accuses Moore of sexually assaulting her at 16

In addition to checking the temperature, you can also cycle through your thermostat's comfort settings (away, home, and sleep) and tell it to heat up or cool down a room.
The new Broadcasts are available and rolling out on assistant phones and speakers from today, however it may take longer for these services to arrive, because of Google's slower time-frames. Once that is said, a bell will ring on all connected speakers along with what you're broadcasting. When that's done, you can begin using Google Assistant voice commands to control your thermostat. This means that one can send a message remotely and make sure that it is delivered to all the other devices.
"And if you're just leaving the office, you can let your family know you're coming with a simple "Ok Google, broadcast I'm on my way home!" to the Assistant on your phone, and it will broadcast to your Google Homes".
While that sounds a little weird, it'll definitely be a useful feature to many people.
