Amazon will make sure the person is at the right home and unlock the door.
Amazon said Wednesday it'll launch a service called Amazon Key next month that will let people allow the door to be unlocked when they're not there so packages can be left inside. Tying the camera in with the in-home delivery service gives people a reason to buy it, said Garner. Prime members can preorder the installation kit now. So, instead of having all your packages piled up outside your front door, Amazon wants someone to drop them off right inside your home. "And so one option, of course, is to have it on your doorstep, another option is to have an Amazon Locker, and now we have a new option if you just want it delivered inside your house".
Amazon Key is made up of three parts, the Amazon Key app, the Amazon Cloud Cam and a smart lock, this will allow Amazon's delivery drivers to place your orders in your home.
Amazon Key will initially be available in 37 U.S. cities where the firm's own courier, Amazon Logistics, will handle deliveries.More news: Wade volunteers to go to bench

If that's not enough, the in-home delivery service also is backed by the Amazon Key Happiness Guarantee, essentially a 30-day window to file a claim if your property is damaged in the process. Amazon Key works with Same-Day, One-Day, Two-Day and Standard Shipping. Customers can install the kits themselves or take advantage of free professional installation.
The service also offers keyless access for family and friends. And with the option requiring a specific camera that it sells, the move helps Amazon tie customers even closer to its gadgets as well as the items it delivers. The Amazon Key platform could eventually be integrated with thousands of providers - from dog walkers to house cleaners - letting you schedule appointments without worrying about giving someone a physical key.
"Cloud Cam has all the features you need to monitor your home, including a 1080p Full HD camera, night vision, two-way audio, and free storage for clips-and with the secure AWS cloud powering Cloud Cam's advanced computer algorithms and intelligent alerts, the service is always getting smarter", said Charlie Tritschler, Vice President, Amazon Devices.
Amazon is guided by four principles: customer obsession rather than competitor focus, passion for invention, commitment to operational excellence, and long-term thinking. Users can view footage from the camera via the Amazon Cloud Cam App.
