Jane Fonda unhappy with plastic surgery question during talk show chat

An NBC insider later defended Megyn's interview. "And the award for most cringeworthy talk show debut goes to".

A 1.9 overall rating, which will likely go up, is still a strong showing for the third hour of "Today" should she be able to maintain that number. The actress seems particularly concerned about some joking remarks that Kelly made when she invited audience member Russell Turner to join them onstage for the Q&A. And unapologetically, ' began Megyn, nervously drawing out her question. "You admit you had work done". You look incredible. I read you felt you're not proud to admit you had work done, why not?' "But let me tell you why I love this movie that we did, "Our Souls at Night", rather than plastic surgery".

Fonda stared Kelly down in a look you can witness at about the two-minute mark below, and then answered: "We really want to talk about that right now?"

The former Fox News anchor welcomed longtime friends Fonda and Robert Redford, who have reunited on the new Netflix film "Our Souls at Night" and sat down with Kelly to promote it.

Kelly explained she wanted to know because people often reference how "amazing" Fonda looks.

A composed-as-ever but noticeably chilly Fonda at that point demurred: 'Thanks.

In response to Kelly, Fonda credited her "good attitude, good posture", and taking care of herself as reasons for how she looks now.

In 2015, Fonda said she was ashamed that she was so neurotically obsessed with her appearance.

An Instagram user later commented on a photo Debra Messing had posted of a bowl of cucumbers (one must seize the moment at any available opportunity), and asked "Why did you guys do the Megyn Kelly show?" Messing responded with "Honestly I didn't know it was [Megyn Kelly] until that morning". The itinerary just said Today Show appearance.

"Regret going on. Dismayed by her comments", she added.
