Nordqvist leaves Evian-Les-Bains in France with her first major championship in eight years, and the Arizona State University graduate will end 2017 with high spirits for what next year could bring.
Nordqvist, the 2009 Women's PGA Championship victor, shot a five-under 66 to charge from tied 11th to a share of the lead at the conclusion of the third round in Evian-les-Bains, where the LPGA Tour event was reduced by 18 holes due to bad weather earlier this week.
Two good rounds from Lydia Ko have her tied fourth at the final major of the year.
At that point, Ko was at six-under, four shots back of leader Moriya Jutanugarn, but she slowly gained back that ground.
As rain began to spit and the winds continued to escalate, Ko managed to navigate safely through her next two holes, overcoming a less than ideal approach shot on 17 to smartly two-putt from distance.
She's won $155,043 this season, 74th on the LPGA money list.
Anna Nordqvist emerged as victor from a playoff against Brittany Altomare to win the 2017 Evian Championship on Sunday.
Sung Hyun Park fired an 8-under 63 in the first round of the Evian Championship on Friday to take a two-shot lead in the final major of the LPGA season.
Jutanugarn's sister and former world number one Ariya, missed the cut for the second major in a row.More news: Watch the 2017 Emmys Red Carpet Live Stream

The 30-year-old has been battling glandular fever in recent months but said she had been inspired by her grandfather's advice to "never give up" when times are tough.
Australian Katherine Kirk and Swede Anna Nordqvist are three shots back after shooting 66s with Americans Marina Alex and Jessica Korda and South Korsean In-Kyung Kim another shot back at 4 under. Nordqvist made a five-foot bogey putt to win. Her wins at Evian came before it was upgraded in 2013.
Two holes behind, Jutanugarn was struggling at the 13 hole.
A year after losing the U.S. Women's Open in a playoff to Brittany Lang following a controversial two-shot penalty, Nordqvist has earned her second major title.
She steeled herself during the second round.
The 23-year-old added: "It was good for me playing in the last group in a major at Kingsbarns".
Park said: "I didn't play well today, so I have a little gap from the top players. I just keep trying".
"I probably don't feel that bad playing on the golf course rather than watching my sister play", said Moriya Jutanugarn, who recalled feeling "nervous, excited" previous year when finishing her round to watch Ariya win at Woburn, England.
