"We can no longer be silent about Pakistan's safe havens for terrorist organisations, the Taliban and other groups that pose a threat to the region and beyond", he said.
"Instead of engaging in a blame game, both Pakistan and Afghanistan should take action against terrorists based on mutual trust and cooperation", he said and noted that media could play a key role in this regard.
The statement issued at the end of the marathon session attended by the Services Chiefs and senior cabinet members, said: "More specifically, we would like to see effective and immediate U.S. military efforts to eliminate sanctuaries harbouring terrorists and miscreants on the Afghan soil, including those responsible for fomenting terror in Pakistan". He recognized the Indian help to Afghanistan in its development.
"India can not be a net security provider in the South Asia region when it has conflictual relationships with all its neighbours and is pursuing a policy of destabilising Pakistan from the east and the west", according to an official statement issued after the meeting.
The meeting attended by the top civil and military leadership also condemned alleged "state inflicted repression" on the people of Jammu and Kashmir and reiterated Pakistan?s continued "diplomatic, political and moral support for their struggle for self determination".
"The committee reaffirmed Pakistan's resolve to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity". Wang Yi further said the global community should fully recognize these efforts.
