Since the time, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish made a decision to switch sides and align with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to form a fresh government in the state, Sharad, the former president of the JD (U), has been openly criticising the saffron party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "The mandate was in favor Mahagathbandhan and I am here to interact with people to know what they feel about the issue", JD (U) senior leader Sharad Yadav told reporters in Patna on Thursday. "We were not aware that Nitish Kumar, who repeatedly claimed himself to be a follower of Gandhiji, would sit in the lap of the killer of Mahatma Gandhi", Tejashwi Yadav said, in his address to a huge gathering of party leaders, workers and supporters.
Addressing the media, Sharad Yadav said that people, who established the mandate, were hurt because of the whole situation.
"The two parties had contested assembly elections against each other on different manifesto but later formed a government".
Yadav's visit to state, his first since the JD (U) broke away from the Grand Alliance to form a new government with the BJP, has sparked talks of a possible division in the JD (U).More news: Canadian pastor detained in North Korea

Sharad Yadav to leave the JD (U)? "People of the sarkari (official) Janata Dal have become the Chief Minister and Ministers in Patna and then there is the real Janata Dal among the masses", Sharad Yadav said at the first stop of his Bahujan Chaupal yatra in Sonepur, reported NDTV. JD (U) Rajya Sabha MP Harivansh, on the other hand, said Sharad seems to have left the party voluntarily.
"Kumar's unilateral decision to walk out of the Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) violates the mandate of the 2015 assembly elections".
The sharp difference in reactions of Sharad Yadav and Nitish Kumar to Ahmed Patel's Rajya Sabha win lays bare the rift between the two senior party leaders, with many suggesting that a split is imminent. It is likely that Sharad may end up getting expelled from JD (U). I consider it a responsibility to maintain my stand. Surprisingly enough, none of the JD (U) legislators close to Yadav were there to receive him at Patna airport. "Not even a panchayat pramukh was present to welcome him", a JD (U) spokesperson said. "I have only asked a few JD (U) leaders to join me in this yatra (tour)", Mr Yadav said.
Sushil Modi expressed surprise saying "how come Sharad Yadav who started his political career from JP movement against corruption, has turned into a supporter of Lalu Prasad's family's corruption".
