TASS/.The Young Pioneer Tours operator, based in China, that organizes tours to North Korea, has reported on the intention of U.S. authorities to ban its citizens from making tourist trips to North Korea in the near future.
TASS does not have any official comments from the USA authorities.
In May, Democrat Adam Schiff and Republican Joe Wilson introduced the North Korea Travel Control Act to ban the travel of United States citizens to North Korea.
The agencies said that the Swedish embassy in Pyongyang, which handles US diplomatic affairs in North Korea, had contacted them by phone to inform them of the decision, according to The Wall Street Journal. After the ban goes into effect, anyone traveling to North Korea on a USA passport will have it invalidated by the US government.
Young Pioneer Tours is the company that organized the group tour that took University of Virginia student Otto Warmbier to North Korea.
South Korea pressed North Korea on Friday to respond urgently to its offer issued at the start of the week to relaunch bilateral Korean military talks.
