out-of-businessBack in December 2011, First Arkansas News posted an article about a brash company called

Why? Well, the company’s spunk was something to behold. After all, if you’re going to pick a name for your company that both calls out the largest tablet maker in the world and will attract attention from people who want something other than an iPad, you’d better be able to back up a claim or two.

The idea behind iPadAlternative was simple — the company sold Android-powered tablets that it claimed were on par with Apple’s competing products because a lot of the same hardware was used. Since iPads and, well, most consumer electronics are churned out of factories in China, it wasn’t hard to imagine that iPadAlternative could get its hands on some of the same hardware used by Apple.

Alas, iPadAlternative went out of business on April 29. An announcement posted on the company’s Website states that the company is calling it quits “due to the fact that our Chinese counter-part has become unreliable and untrustworthy.” While iPadAlternative is a British company based in Taiwan, it relied on Chinese manufacturers and, apparently, went into business with the wrong people.

Customers with questions or concerns are encouraged to visit and get in touch with the company directly.
