Goodwill opens new store in Rogers
Members of the Rogers-Lowell Chamber of Commerce, Rogers Fire Chief Tom Jenkins, and Goodwill Industries of Arkansas President and CEO Brian Itzkowitz and staff celebrated the grand opening of a new 30,000 square foot facility at 4301 South Dixieland Road in Rogers, Arkansas, on Wednesday.
The building boasts a state of the art career center with computer labs and classrooms, as well as a retail store and convenient Donation Drive-Thru.
“We couldn’t be happier to welcome such an important organization to our community, and we applaud the great work Goodwill Industries of Arkansas does to jumpstart local economies and equip individuals with the skills and tools needed to join the workforce,” Jenkins, speaking on behalf of Rogers Mayor Greg Hines, said in a news release.
Goodwill Industries of Arkansas donation and retail stores provide employment and training opportunities for individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment, and also fund the expansion of the organization’s job readiness services. Thanks to the record 1,280,214 transactions made the 2012 fiscal year, Goodwill Industries of Arkansas was able to provide 27,819 services to 6,581 individuals, place 1,112 in competitive employment and create 65 new jobs in that time period.
“Goodwill has served Arkansas for over 85 years,” said Itzkowitz. “We are growing and actively responding to the needs of Arkansans who require assistance to overcome barriers and gain independence.
“Goodwill’s mission is to help individuals reach their full potential through education, job training, career counseling and placement services,” stated Itzkowitz. “Our mission couldn’t be realized without the generosity and support of Arkansans. When you donate and shop at Goodwill, you can truly change a life.”
Close to 100 excited customers waiting in line rushed inside when the store officially opened for the first time.
The new Rogers location at 4301 S. Dixieland Road, at the intersection of Pleasant Crossing Drive will serve as both a retail store and career education center with Donation Drive-Thru.
