Dr. Zodiac, Weekend OTR find a new home

By: 17 January 2012 No Comment

The mysterious Dr. Zodiac!

We’re making a change or two here at First Arkansas News and figured we’d pass them along to our loyal readers.

Specifically, we’re moving Dr. Zodiac’s horoscope and our Weekend OTR feature to another site, The Natural State Hawg. Why? Well, there are a couple of reasons for that.

First of all, The Natural State Hawg is more geared for such things. We’re talking about purely entertainment items when it comes to horoscopes and reruns of old time radio programs, and they’re kind of out of place on a news site. Don’t worry, however — we’ll still post articles here regularly informing readers when a new horoscope or OTR show has been posted.

Second, there’s Google News to consider. First Arkansas News was a Google News publisher until just recently and we should be getting that status back soon. It turns out this site was delisted from Google News for mingling non-news items such as horoscopes and old time radio programs. That leaves us with a decision — we can either put those items on separate pages or move them. Seeing how those features just don’t work too well on their own pages, the decision was made to move them to another site.

Of course, we’ll still stick with updating our OTR Serials page and will keep running the Lum and Abner comic strip. Those features fit well on a separate page and the Lum and Abner strip is — without a doubt — unique content.
