It’s official — Hugh Freeze heading to Ole Miss

By: 5 December 2011 One Comment

Archie Manning — an Ole Miss alum, former quarterback for the New Orleans Saints and co-chair of the search committee to find Mississippi’s new coach — announced that Arkansas State University Hugh Freeze will be taking the coaching job that opened up after Houston Nutt resigned in November.

Freeze led ASU to a 10-2 record this year and an appearance in the Bowl on Jan. 8. Nutt, meanwhile, led Ole Miss to a 2-10 record with no Southeastern Conference (SEC) wins and victories over only Fresno State and Southern Illinois. Nutt left Arkansas as head coach at the end of the 2007 season and spent the next four years at Ole Miss.

Manning, in a video message, said Freeze will be announced as  Ole Miss’ new head coach at a 2 p.m. press conference today. You can watch the video message here.
