No taxes on back-to-school stuff this weekend

By: 2 August 2011 No Comment

We hope you haven’t purchased your back-to-school items yet! This weekend is the state’s first sales tax holiday. Texas and Missouri have had them for years, so it seems about time that we have one in the Natural State.

Before you get too excited, this tax free holiday only applies to certain items…mostly stuff that kids could reasonably need for heading back to school. It isn’t limited to clothing in kids’ sizes!

This looks to be an annual event though, so Arkansans can look forward to it every year. The law ways the tax-free holiday will be every first weekend in August.

We know you might have questions about this chance to purchase items without sales tax and believe it not the government has provided a pretty good list of answers in its FAQ.
