Holiday OTR: Great Gildersleeve — Memorial Day Parade

By: 30 May 2011 2 Comments

Happy Memorial Day to all. Make sure to fire up that grill, thank a veteran for his or her service to this country, kick back and enjoy the holiday.

With any luck, you’re reading this while enjoying a day off from work and have a little time to take in today’s Great Gildersleeve episode.  If not, go ahead and celebrate by listening to a classic old time radio episode, anyway. Take a break. You deserve it. The Man might be able to deprive you of a holiday, but he can’t completely ruin your fun, right?

As I mentioned, today’s Memorial Day episode features the antics of the Great Gildersleeve. We posted a “heavier” Memorial Day episode just the other day — Norman Corwin’s tribute in honor of Victory in Europe Day. Give that one a listen if you haven’t already done so.

While on the topic of old time radio, make sure to read all about our efforts to produce a weekly Lum and Abner comic strip. We’re excited about the project, but are looking for the financial backing to bring it to life (click the aforementioned link to read all about that effort).

As always, today’s old time radio episode is brought to you by the Letter C. That’s “C” for “The Cat,” as in OTRCat.com. If you’re an OTR fan, you owe it to yourself to pay The Cat a visit. Trust me on this.

Now, on to the show.
