Mena to host Lum and Abner Festival in June

By: 25 April 2011 2 Comments

Yes this makes two Lum and Abner-related articles in two days.

Still, there’s a lot going on regarding the Arkansas comedy team — this year marks both the 80th anniversary of the Lum and Abner show airing and the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Pine Ridge, Ark. For a little history on the program, make sure to visit our synopsis of what those Arkansas boys did in establishing their successful old time radio franchise if you’d like to learn more about them.

On June 3-4, fans of the show will gather in Mena for the 34th annual Lum and Abner Festival. The event kicks off with a parade on June 2 and features plenty of live entertainment, including reenactments of the radio show at the Ouachita Little Theater on June 3-4.

For more information about the event, just click here. Of course, we’ll mention it again a time or two at First Arkansas News as we get closer to the event.

I just learned about this wonderful festival – a bit late to attend this year, but I do hope to attend next year. Lum n’ Abner, one of my all times favorite old-time radioo shows!
