Last year for the Friends of Old-Time Radio Convention
After 36 years, the group responsible for the Friends of Old-Time Radio Convention is calling it quits.
The final convention will be held Oct. 20-23 at the Ramada Plaza Hotel in Newark, N.J. Details are forthcoming, but Sean Dougherty said event organizers are trying to reach as many old time radio (OTR) fans as possible.
“I’ve been doing PR for the convention since 1995 and every year I hear too many people say ‘I don’t have time this year, I’ll go next year,’” he said. “Well, finally, there is no next year.”
Dougherty said about 300 to 500 people turn out every year for the event to meet with other OTR fans, see live recreations of classic shows, visit historians, beef up those OTR collections and talk to actors affiliated with old time radio. He said event planners hope this year’s event will draw a record crowd — people who have put off attending it in the past are advised to take advantage of the last convention.

Thanks Ethan – hope we see you in October!
I don’t see Chuck McCann’s name on the 2011 guest list. Did he have to cancel?
