Joan Jett, Rick Springfield and old time radio

By: 11 April 2011 2 Comments

Anyone who wonders why we’d mention Joan Jett, Rick Springfield and old time radio in the same article here at First Arkansas News must be new here.

We like entertainment so why not cover a bit of diversity here and there? At any rate, Jett and Springfield get a mention because they’ll be in concert this summer at Magic Springs this summer. Those two were all over the charts in the 1980s and still have legions of fans, many of whom undoubtedly reside here in central Arkansas.

Thank goodness those two will be in Hot Springs rather than Little Rock, by the way. I still have some bad memories of concerts in Little Rock, having gone to more than a few in the 1980s in which some drug-addled rocker declared, “Little Rock? They ought to call it — Big Rock!”

Ugh.

Unlike most of those “Big Rock” proponents, Jett and Springfield are still around and it will be dandy fun to see them in Hot Springs. Jett will be at Magic Springs on June 25 while Springfield will be in town on July 23. Some other cats such as Three Doors Down will be at Magic Springs this summer and you’ll find the entire concert schedule here.

For some more immediate old school entertainment, the OTR Serials section of this site has been updated. Yes, the Buck Rogers section is now complete (because there are so few surviving shows left in circulation) and there are some new Blue Beetle episodes up, too.

Stay tuned for more updates, kids.

A concert experience doesn’t get any better than Rick Springfield. The man is talented, still so handsome, works the crowd, can play guitar even better than he sings and revs up the energy of all in attendance. Very exciting!
