Hendrix Alumni Weekend — last chance to hear four professors
Hendrix College in Conway is hosting Alumni Weekend on April 15-17 and four long-time professors will give their “last lectures” during the event.
Four professors — Eric Binnie, Bruce Haggard, Ian King and Ralph McKenna — will hold their final lectures and visit with former students at receptions on April 16.
For more information about this year’s Alumni Weekend, just click here to visit the Hendrix site. All attendees are encouraged to register for the weekend over there, too — prices range from $20 for adults to no charge for children and people who graduated in 2010.
Now, here are a few bios and some information on when the retiring professors will present their last lectures to the alumni.
Eric Binnie — professor of theater arts (B.A., Strathclyde University, ’68; M.A., McMaster University, ’70; and Ph.D., University of Toronto, ’78). Binnie, who has been with the college since 1989, will present his last lecture at 4 p.m. in Mills A on April 16 and will be followed by a reception in the Mills Library at 4:30 p.m.
Bruce Haggard — Virginia A. McCormick Pittman Professor of Biology (B.A., Indiana University, ’66; M.A., Indiana University, ’70; and Ph.D., Indiana University, ’73). Haggard, who has been with the college since 1972, will present his last lecture at 2 p.m. on April 16 in Mills A and a reception is to follow in the Mills Library at 2:30 p.m.
Ian King — Harold and Lucy Cabe Distinguished Professor Professor of Politics and International Relations and Morris and Ann Henry Odyssey Professor (B.A., University of Hull, ’80; and Ph.D., University of Minnesota, ’84). King, who has been with Hendrix since 1985, will present his last lecture at 1 p.m. on April 16 in Mills A and a reception will follow in the Mills Library at 1:30 p.m.
Ralph McKenna — professor of psychology (B.S., Danbury State College, ’63; and Ph.D., University of Connecticut, ’70). McKenna, who has been with the college since 1976, will present his final lecture at 3 p.m. in Mills A on April 16 and a reception will follow in the Mills Library at 3:30 p.m.
I hope to see some fellow members of the Class of 1991 there.
